Co-worker's card

One of my co-workers is having a "big" birthday this week but she asked that we really not draw attention to the age. We think she's going to be 60. We're going to do a breakfast for her on Friday and get her flowers (she's always bringing in flowers for others' birthdays). I volunteered to make a card and ran some designs past another co-worker for insight.

She picked my pink and brown card that I had made for someone else and thought it would be perfect.

I love pink and brown together, but wasn't sure how Donna felt about it. I know she likes purple and green, so I adapted the card a bit and came up with this:

It's a bit different but the basic style is the same. It's been decided that she will probably love it.

I'm glad.

More (of the same) Valentine's Cards

One of my blogging friends ordered four of the Valentine's Day cards that I'd done. I didn't realize until I took the picture of them that I had reversed the ribbon color. Oops... I actually think the reversed color looked better than the original version.

The color isn't great on the yellow envelope background but, better than forgetting totally to take the picture.

Have a great day!!!

Oh, by the way - I won the giveaway that I shared the other day. Way cool! I can't wait to see the items.

Friendship cards

These are the last two cards I made for my friend's grandmother. She loved them, which is nice, and she placed another order - which is also very nice!

I promise that I'll get better about writing down what papers and supplies that I use. I think of it AFTER I've already destroyed any evidence of what brands. I do know the card on the left was done with DCWV Cotton Bloom papers. The flower in the center of the orange flower was handmade by moi with a balloon punch, a star punch, and some Flower Soft.

The sentiment on each is from a vellum sticker sheet I've had for a long time. The green piece on the right card was embossed with one of my Sizzix folders (don't know which one) and the brown is the reverse side of the floral. I just loved the muted tones of the floral and looked all over in my stash of things to find stuff that would go with it. The rectangle with the butterfly is popped up with foam dots. The butterfly is a nice chipboard and was part of a sheet of stickers, along with the 3-D buttons.

Valentine's Day Cards

This card was done for a special order. The paper is shimmery so it may be hard to read the sentiment but it says “Sending You Loads of Love" (you know... wash tub holds "loads" of laundry).  The hearts are all hand-cut - I thought I had a heart image on one of my Cricut cartridges but I did not. So, I took some heart clip art images and manipulated them - and then printed them in color on white cardstock. They were a bit tedious to cut out. I added the red "bling" across the ribbon and some clear on the hearts just to dress it up a bit. I like to use several layers of mat on most of my cards and I thought the red, pink, and black really looked nice here. I printed the sentiment out onto red paper and then added it to the scrub board.

I cut the wash tub image from the Country Life cartridge at 3 inches. The card is 5 x 6.

In addition, I have this charming "Just a note" card for the same order. This is also blank on the inside.

Stationery Box

I was looking for a box to hold finished cards this morning. I found several for A4 size but haven't found what I'm looking for to hold the bigger cards yet. I found this video on YouTube (it's a 2 part) that shows how to make a really cute box so I tried it out this morning.

Here is my version of it. I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet - maybe make some smaller cards to fill it! LOL!

I also ended up finding the whole PDF of instructions so that will be helpful if I decide to do this box again. Now that I've done it once, the repeats should go pretty fast. Plus, the printed instructions include some other items for the box that would really make it a nice gift. You can't see it, but the inside of the box is stamped with little flowers.

Sketchy Challenge

I am entering another challenge this week over at Riley and Co. This is my finished card using Coffee Riley.

This is the sketch to work from:

I think it turned out very well and is going to a friend as part of a card order.

Christmas cards

I finally got time to do my Christmas cards for family. I concentrated on one style so I could do them "assembly line" style. Here they are:

Everyone seemed to like them. I'm going to start earlier for next Christmas. I ran out of time and didn't get as many made as I would have liked. I ended up sending out my sample cards to a few people because I still needed to send them a card but didn't have one made.

Riley and Co Resolutions Card Contest

I'm entering a contest from Riley and Co. The challenge this week is to create a card that is inspired by a New Years Resolution ... but it doesn't necessarily have to be our own resolution.

I don't have very many stamps that aren't holiday-themed, so I had to dig deep (in my mind) to think of something. Here it is...

Outside:

The pad says, "Resolutions: Eat More Chocolate, Drink More Coffee, Take My Medications."

Inside:

Hope you like it.

Journals and such

Christmas is over (for now) and I'm finally finished making the journals that I gave away as gifts. I did not take pictures of some of them (sparing you all) but wanted to show a couple of the last ones I made.

This one was made with a 2010 Hello Kitty calendar for a lady at work whose cubicle is completely - and I do mean COMPLETELY - decorated in Hello Kitty things:

Front cover
 Back cover
 Inside liner

The calendar had come with an assortment of stickers so I placed them on various pages throughout the journal. Kind of cheesy, but it looked cute.

This journal I made for my husband's ex-wife. She goes through several "prayer journals" each year so I made her a patriotic one that she can use at any time during the year. I know that Faith made her one for Christmas as well so I looked for something that was different than what Faith had done.

This one I made for a young lady at work who is from India and who had never experienced a "Christmas" before. I wanted it to have a very traditional Christmas look.

The ones I made for my co-workers were all winter-themed, except for one. My original goal was to do a personalized theme for each of them but I ran out of time to search for the "special" papers I would need. Before I realized I couldn't get done what I wanted to do, I made a travel-themed journal for a co-worker who loves to travel. I was really pleased with it and actually hated to give it away.

She really liked it, so that was good.

I'm going to start my Christmas cards for next year earlier and put some for sale on Etsy. That's the plan, anyway.
