Covered Box

I had this box that contained (at one time) something fragile and breakable (this was almost "fragible") from Hallmark. It was purple with pink interior and tied shut with a purple ribbon. I decided I needed to do something to take my mind off stressful situations going on in my life so thought I'd cover it with paper and do some "distressing" on the top.

Once again, I'm bad about writing down what supplies I used. I did use the "distressing" ink to make the paper look a bit older and used paper lace trim from K&Company. The doily (on top) came from Goodwill and so did the pink beads (they were from a $2 necklace). The letter "W" is a Tim Holtz Grunge letter (I think that is what it is). The metal frames and "love" plate I've had for years so don't remember where they came from.

I colored the "W" with desert sand pen and then used the distressing ink. Once I'd done that, I stamped our initials randomly on it (T for me and R for Ron). I attached the "key" embellishment and the heart embellishments inside the metal frames.

The paper was glued on first and then mod podge over the entire surface. After that dried, I added the doily (glue and mod podge); when dry, added the other embellishments on top and did another coat of mod podge. I'm not overly fond of the purple ribbon closure but I used it to tie in with the circles on the paper going around the outside of the box. I left the inside alone since it was already pink. You can see a bit of the purple box peaking through. I need another coat of mod podge in a couple of places and maybe a bit of gluing down.
